Organise and Download the Griffith University Academic Calendar for the Digital Age!

You would think that a large and modern academic institution that uses Google as it's host email provider would at least be able to provide students and staff a Google Calendar option of key dates to keep us well informed while we check our gmails. As far as quality assurance goes, it allows staff to collaborate with each other and check for errors and omissions.

More importantly, in the age of smartphones (and they call them smart for a reason) that are able to sync our day to day planning across various devices. There is really no excuse for forgetting a key dates and events. Get with the times (no pun intended) Griffith University (GU).

The only option GU provides is a pdf that continues to be used over and over again with the only improvement is that it gets prettier each year. So as a student that leads by example, my recommendation is to allow students to download and import the:

Semester 1 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 Griffith University Academic Calendar into:

iCloud
Outlook
Apple Mail
WebDAV

As an additional tip, the GU online phonebook is pretty awesome. It gives you the ability to import staff vCards (kinda like a business card only virtual, that is what the v stands for) that can be imported into Outlook, smartphones, iCal, iPhones and the student email contact list. One area of improvement GU could implement is adding images of staff members to the vCard so you know you got the right person when you look them up in your contact list.
